erdi - meaning
noun. half; middle
adverb. halfway
verb. to give birth, to bear; to have a baby
In Basque, erdi means half or middle: the point where two parts meet and balance. It can also express something done halfway and, in a deeper sense, the act of giving birth, the beginning of something new. Our brand is born from that meaning: we are two cousins, between two cities, Bilbao and Barcelona, who created Erdi as a meeting point between places, ideas, and hands, a name that speaks of being between two worlds and, at the same time, of shaping something of our own.
Hello, we are Katalin and Nerea
We come from a background where working with our hands, imagining, and building from scratch has been a natural way of understanding the world, and that's where erdi was born.
we have a background in graphic design, textile, and fashion, and today we work between Bilbao and Barcelona, sharing processes, ideas, and decisions every step of the way. We do everything together, jointly: from research and development to the final production of each garment.
we are interested in respecting the times of the process and valuing manual work, understanding each piece as something unique, built with attention and detail.
erdi is our way of understanding contemporary craftsmanship: a shared project, made from a local perspective, where each garment tells a story of its process and a way of being in the world.
